Getting There

From Narita Airport (NRT)

Recommended (Premium): Take the 🔵 Keisei Skyliner from Terminal 1 or 2 to Nippori Station, then transfer to the 🟢 JR Yamanote Line to reach Ikebukuro Station. The total journey takes approximately 50–60 minutes and is generally the fastest rail option. Terminal 3 users must take the shuttle to Terminal 2 first.

Direct (Premium): The 🔴 Narita Express (N’EX) provides direct service to Ikebukuro Station on select trains without transfers, taking approximately 90 minutes. Budget: The 🔵 Keisei Main Line to Nippori offers significant savings but takes approximately 90–110 minutes.

From Haneda Airport (HND)

Recommended (Mid-range): Take the 🔴 Keikyu Line from any terminal (T1, T2, T3) to Shinagawa Station, then transfer to the 🟢 JR Yamanote Line (clockwise) to Ikebukuro. The total trip takes approximately 50–60 minutes. Alternatively, take the 🔵 Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station and transfer to the 🟢 JR Yamanote Line. Airport Limousine Buses are also available for direct access to major hotels in the area.

From Major Stations

  • From Tokyo Station: Take the 🔴 Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line directly to Ikebukuro (approximately 17–20 minutes). This is often faster than the JR Yamanote Line.
  • From Shinjuku Station: Take the 🟢 JR Saikyo Line (1 stop) or the 🟢 JR Yamanote Line (4 stops) to Ikebukuro (approximately 5–10 minutes).
  • From Shibuya Station: Take the 🟤 Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line (Express) or the 🟢 JR Saikyo Line for the fastest access (approximately 10–15 minutes).

Local Access

Ikebukuro Station is a massive transportation hub serving the 🟢 JR Yamanote, Saikyo, and Shonan-Shinjuku Lines, as well as the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Tobu Tojo Line, and three subway lines: 🔴 Marunouchi, 🟡 Yurakucho, and 🟤 Fukutoshin. IC cards (Suica, PASMO) are accepted on all trains and buses throughout the network.
