  • Rental car: Almost essential with kids. Car seats available.
  • Pace: Okinawa is for relaxing. Dont over-schedule.

Getting There

Arriving in Okinawa

Recommended (Mid-range): Naha Airport (OKA) is the primary gateway to the main island. Take the Yui Rail (Monorail) directly from the airport station—connected to the Domestic Terminal (2F)—to downtown Naha. The ride to Kencho-mae Station takes approximately 15 minutes. Premium: Taxis are readily available curbside and reach the city center in approximately 10–15 minutes, providing a convenient door-to-door option for families with strollers and luggage.

Getting Around

Recommended for Families: Renting a car is the most practical way to explore the island with children, especially for visiting northern attractions like the Churaumi Aquarium. Most rental agencies provide shuttle services from the airport. Public Transport: Within Naha City, the Yui Rail is convenient and frequent. For travel to beach resorts without a car, Airport Limousine Buses offer a reliable Mid-range connection. While the local OKICA card is widely used, major IC cards like Suica and PASMO are also accepted on the Yui Rail and most route buses.
