Getting There
Arriving in Kyoto
From Kansai International Airport (KIX): Recommended (Premium): Take the 🔵 JR Haruka Limited Express directly to Kyoto Station in approximately 75–80 minutes. The train station is connected to Terminal 1; passengers arriving at Terminal 2 (Peach/LCCs) must take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1 first. Mid-range: Airport Limousine Buses depart from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, reaching Kyoto Station (Hachijo Exit) in approximately 85–100 minutes depending on traffic.
From Itami Airport (ITM): Recommended (Mid-range): Take the Airport Limousine Bus directly to Kyoto Station in approximately 50–55 minutes. This is generally more convenient than navigating multiple train transfers with luggage.
From Tokyo: Take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto Station. The fast Nozomi service takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Getting Around for Cherry Blossoms
Kyoto experiences extremely heavy road traffic during the spring cherry blossom season. While the city bus network is extensive, buses are frequently delayed and overcrowded during peak bloom.
Recommended: Prioritize trains and subways to move between major sightseeing districts efficiently to maximize your time.
