Getting There

Starting Point

This itinerary begins at Hiroshima Station, the primary transportation hub for the region. From here, you can easily access the Peace Memorial Park via streetcar or connect to the ferry port for Miyajima. The station serves both Shinkansen and local JR lines.

From Hiroshima Airport (HIJ)

Recommended (Mid-range): Take the Airport Limousine Bus from the arrival lobby directly to Hiroshima Station (Shinkansen Exit) in approximately 45–55 minutes. As Hiroshima Airport is located far from the city center with no direct train connection, the bus is the most practical and frequent option. Taxis are available but are significantly more expensive (Premium).

From Major Cities (Shinkansen)

Most travelers arrive in Hiroshima by train via the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen line.

  • From Osaka (Shin-Osaka): Take the Sakura, Mizuho, or Nozomi train to reach Hiroshima in approximately 80–90 minutes.
  • From Kyoto: Take the Nozomi train directly to Hiroshima in approximately 95–105 minutes.
  • From Tokyo: Take the Nozomi train to Hiroshima in approximately 4 hours.
  • From Fukuoka (Hakata): Take the Mizuho or Nozomi train in approximately 60–65 minutes.

Useful Passes & Getting Around

Hiroshima relies on an extensive streetcar network (Hiroden) rather than a subway system. Recommended: The “1-Day Streetcar and Ferry Pass” is ideal for this itinerary, covering unlimited rides on Hiroden streetcars and the ferry to Miyajima. For those traveling from Osaka, the JR Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass offers excellent value. IC cards like ICOCA (Chugoku/Kansai), Suica, and PASMO are accepted on streetcars, buses, and ferries.
