Getting There

Arriving in Okinawa

Recommended (Mid-range): Naha Airport (OKA) serves as the primary gateway. The Yui Rail (Monorail) connects the airport directly to Naha city center (stations such as Kencho-mae or Makishi) in approximately 15–20 minutes. The station is connected to the Domestic Terminal (2F); passengers arriving at the International Terminal should walk through the connecting passage to board.

Premium: Taxis are readily available curbside. Budget: Local route buses depart from the ground level, though they are generally slower than the monorail for reaching downtown Naha.

Getting Around to Beaches

Recommended (Rental Car): While Naha has the Yui Rail, the best beaches are located along the central and northern coasts where rail service does not exist. Renting a car is the most efficient way to explore multiple beaches. Most rental agencies provide shuttle services from the airport to their pickup locations.

Alternative (Bus): Travelers without cars can use the Airport Limousine Bus or the Yanbaru Express Bus. These services connect Naha Airport and the Naha Bus Terminal to major beach resorts in Onna Village, Nago, and the Churaumi Aquarium area. Travel times vary from approximately 60 to 120 minutes depending on the destination.

IC Cards: The local IC card is OKICA. However, major nationwide IC cards (Suica, PASMO, ICOCA) are accepted on the Yui Rail and most route buses, making payment convenient for travelers.
