Getting There
From New Chitose Airport (CTS)
Recommended (Mid-range): Take the 🟢 JR Rapid Airport train from the airport station (B1F) to Sapporo Station in approximately 37–40 minutes. From Sapporo, transfer to a highway bus or connecting train (see below). Direct Option (Seasonal): During the winter ski season and summer peak, the “Hokkaido Resort Liner” bus connects the airport directly to Furano hotels in approximately 2.5–3 hours. Check schedules in advance as reservations are often required.
From Sapporo Station
Recommended (Budget/Convenience): Take the “Furano Lavender Go” highway bus from the Sapporo Station Bus Terminal. The journey takes approximately 2.5–3 hours and requires no transfers, making it a stress-free option for travelers with luggage. Premium (Fastest): Take a 🟢 JR Limited Express (Lilac or Kamui) to Takikawa Station, then transfer to the 🟢 JR Nemuro Line local train to Furano Station. The total trip takes approximately 2 hours. Note that the seasonal “Lavender Express” train offers direct service during summer months.
Local Access
Furano Station is the main transport hub for the area. Important: IC cards (Kitaca, Suica) are generally NOT accepted for train fares to Furano or on local buses; travelers must purchase paper tickets or pay with cash. While the “Kururu” loop bus operates during the summer tourist season, a rental car is highly recommended for exploring the flower fields and wider region efficiently.
