Overview

Osaka Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583. The current tower is a 1931 concrete reconstruction housing a museum. The vast park grounds include moats, stone walls, and 3,000 cherry trees.

Getting There
From Kansai International Airport (KIX)
Recommended (Premium): Take the 🔵 JR Haruka Limited Express from Terminal 1 (Terminal 2 passengers must take the free shuttle to the train station) to Tennoji Station. From there, transfer to the 🔴 JR Osaka Loop Line to Osakajokoen Station. The total journey takes approximately 50–60 minutes. Budget: The JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service connects the airport directly to the 🔴 JR Osaka Loop Line (stops at Osakajokoen or Morinomiya) in approximately 70–80 minutes at a lower cost.
From Osaka Itami Airport (ITM)
Recommended (Mid-range): Take the Airport Limousine Bus to Osaka Station (Umeda), then transfer to the 🔴 JR Osaka Loop Line to Osakajokoen Station. Total travel time is approximately 45–55 minutes. Alternative: Take the Osaka Monorail to Hotarugaike, transfer to the 🟤 Hankyu Takarazuka Line to Osaka-Umeda, then switch to the JR Loop Line.

- From Osaka Station (Umeda): Take the 🔴 JR Osaka Loop Line (Outer Loop) directly to Osakajokoen Station (approximately 10–15 minutes).

Local Access
Osaka Castle Park is extensive and served by multiple stations depending on which gate you wish to enter. Osakajokoen Station (🔴 JR Osaka Loop Line) is convenient for the Osaka-jo Hall and the park area. Tanimachi 4-chome Station (served by the 🟢 Chuo Line and 🟣 Tanimachi Line) is the closest stop to the Otemon Gate, the main entrance to the castle grounds. Temmabashi Station (🟢 Keihan Line) serves the northwest entrance. IC cards like ICOCA, Suica, and PASMO are accepted on all trains and buses in the region.
